The history of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University goes back to 1887, when a technical school in oil booming Baku was set up. In 1920, a polytechnic institute was established on the basis of the technical school. Over the years, the University operated under several names, the most popular of which, AzII (Azerbaijan Industrial Institute) is still in use today and played a significant role in the development of Azerbaijan’s oil industry. Throughout its history the University has trained over 150,000 highly qualified specialists from more than 100 countries!
Currently, there are 7 faculties where more than 10,000 students are being educated to become top-class specialists.
The academic staff consists of 45 Professors, 284 Associate Professors and 238 teachers. The ASOIU has a very developed infrastructure for education: 2 Research Institutes, 32 Research Laboratories, 3 educational buildings, Information Computing Center, a Publishing House, a dormitory, a student polyclinic and hospital, a sports complex and a library with more than 1 million books!
ASOIU cooperates with more than 100 universities from more than 50 countries and is a member of “Erasmus+” network. Within the framework of “Mevlana” program, ASOUI cooperates with more than 30 universities in Turkey and regular student and staff exchange is organized with such universities as Georgia State University (USA), Siegen University (Germany), Strasbourg University (France) on a bilateral basis.
Currently, the University stands at 1220th place in the world universities ranking system according to QS World Universities Ranking. At the same time, one of the areas we are successful at is the employment ratio of the students graduating from ASOIU and the university is in the 271st place in the world universities ranking!
